The Coquille River Lighthouse with its simple architectural lines stands watch on a cloudy day in Bullard's Beach State Park, Bandon, Oregon. The lighthouse is the smallest on the Oregon coast and resembles the High Victorian Italianate style. It went into service in 1896 standing at the mouth of the Coquille River. Technical navigation equipment made the lighthouse obsolete in the 1940's and it was abandoned for many years. Now restored, it is lit by a solar powered light which recreates its former grandeur for the viewing delight of its many visitors.
