A glowing window in the viewing station on the rim of Crater Lake looks out over the lake and Wizard Island as the last light of day falls over a cold winter scene. Crater Lake National Park is located in the Cascade Mountain Range of southern Oregon. The lake is in a volcanic crater or caldera created by the eruption of Mt. Mazama. It is the deepest lake in the United States at 1,949 feet. Solely fed by snow and rain, it boasts the clearest water of any lake in the world.
