Radiating Roof Print Southeastern Oregon
In the late 19th Century, Pete French was the cattle king of Oregon and ran an enormous ranch that covered much of the south east corner of the state. In order to keep his large stable of horses trained during the harsh winter months, he built round barns in which the horses could walk in a continuous circle while staying out of the elements. The intricate radiating roof truss system resembled the underside of an umbrella.
