Cape Blanco Lighthouse, located on Cape Blanco on the Central Oregon coast, is the western most point in Oregon. Constructed with local materials and bricks made on site, the lighthouse began operation in 1870. Conditions can be difficult on the cape, which experiences constant high winds during the spring and summer and severe storms in winter. This black and white image of the lighthouse conveys the sometimes stark and blustery aspect of the cape.
