This photo was taken in 2005 on my second trip to summit Denali, "the great one" to the Athabaskan people. Also known as Mt. McKinley it is the highest peak in North America and is located in Denali National Park, Alaska. Measured from sea level at over 20,000 feet it has a higher bulk and rise than Mt. Everest from base to peak. Because of its latitudinal position, Denali's altitude is more dangerous to climbers than other mountains its size. This bright, clear day shows off the detail of the rugged south west face and the extreme ice and snow conditions of the area.
