This image of Cathedral Peak, in the Tuolumne back country of Yosemite National Park is indicative of the amazing granite formations found in the area. Yosemite is one of the largest and least fragmented habitat blocks in the Sierra Nevada and supports a diversity of plants and animals. The park has an elevation range from 2,000 to 13,114 feet and contains flora from chaparral/oak woodlands, to alpine vegetation. Trees in this rocky meadow struggle to keep from meeting the same end as the silvery snag.
