Church Of San Francisco in Taos Stock Image

Church Of San Francisco in Taos Stock Image
The Church of San Francisco de Asis in Rancho de Taos, New Mexico is a small mission constructed by Franciscan Fathers and completed in 1815. It is made of adobe as are many of the Spanish missions in New Mexico. A few miles south of Taos Pueblo, it was the subject of several paintings by Georgia O'Keefe and photographs by Ansel Adams. It has been described as one of the most beautiful buildings built by Spaniards in the United States. This angle with its clean modern lines is the back of the building. The front entry is flanked by twin bell towers.
