TKActions V6

The TKActions V6 panel is Tony Kuyper's newest release of the comprehensive panel for making luminosity masks and running Photoshop. It includes all the features of the previous V5 panel plus many new ones. Like it's predecessor, the V6 panel is modular, so users can configure it in whatever manner works best in their workspace. The Combo module even has two different arrangements to allow a new compact layout if that's desired.

The new RapidMask2 module still uses the Rapid Mask engine to quickly generate entire spectrums of luminosity masks and other pixel-based masks at near real-time speeds. The mask-based interface calculates 16-bit masks and users see these up front to make intelligent choices about which one to use. The interface, though, has been completely reorganized. There are numbered sections to guide users through the mask-creation process. There are also new modification options including an advanced mask calculator that allows all masks, even modified masks, to be combined in unique ways.

Most users will only need two of the V6 modules (RapidMask2 plus one of the Combo modules) to do everything that required four modules with the V5 panel. V6 is much more streamlined and efficient. In addition to the main interface, there are logical submenus that can be easily accessed, and which automatically close when they are no longer needed. Rolling the mouse over the image below will display more of the underlying interface available in these modules.

The TKActions V6 panel is available on the Tutorials & Panels page.

"Tony, I can't thank you enough for this new V6 panel. I have watched Sean's video guide and feel very comfortable with the functionality of the panel. I have used the other panels currently on offer to photographers but yours is the most intuitive and quickest to use. It's great to have the tools to improve images while keeping them looking natural. Thanks, again...and a special mention to Sean for the great video explanation."

"Tony and Sean, I have just gone through the videos and the update to the Rapid Mask 2 is amazing. It gives a massive amount of flexibility and allows for immense creativity. Thanks for the videos! They are brilliant, and make the functionality very clear indeed. "
 - Rajiv Chopra,

The TKActions V6 panel is designed exclusively for Photoshop CC to take advantage of the HTML5 architecture that Photoshop CC can accommodate. Below are some of the features of each module.

  • Multiple masks/multiple sources−Luminosity masks are only the beginning. Channel, color, saturation, and vibrance masks are created just as easily, and entire spectrums of these other pixel-based, self-feathering masks can be made as easily and quickly as the standard luminosity masks. The new SOURCE menus make it easy to choose different pixel data as the starting point for making masks
  • Better organized−Four distinct sections (SOURCE, MASK, MODIFY, and OUTPUT) that mirror the mask-making process.
  • Spectrum interface−Updated and compact spectrum interface for choosing different masks.
  • New masks−Lights-6, Darks-6, and Vibrance.
  • User-created color masks−Color masks that target specific colors can be generated and converted to Rapid Masks.
  • Add and subtract masks with ease−Two buttons, Plus(+) and Minus(-), make it so all masks can be added and subtracted just like using a calculator.
  • Advanced Mask Calculator−For even more control when combining masks, turn on this feature. It allows addition, subtraction, and intersection of any mask, even modified masks.
  • More output options−Easily create adjustment layers and pixel layers with the current Rapid Mask as a layer mask.
  • Updated Layer Mask mode−Provides an image-based approach to quickly choose or create the best mask by having the mask applied directly as a layer mask on the active layer.
  • Accent color interface−Only one accent color for the entire module that users can change to whatever they prefer.
  • Click-tracking−Buttons retain an accent-colored shadow after clicking so users can track which mask they last chose.

  • Compact design−Combines the all features, functions, and actions of the V5 Control and Actions modules into one.
  • Run Photoshop from the module−Many common Photoshop functions, keyboard shortcuts, and menu items can be run with a single button click from the module.
  • Muted color interface−Separates buttons into logical groups in order to quickly find the correct Photoshop function.
  • Multi-function buttons−Several buttons have dual functions that are graphically displayed on the button itself.
  • Use the "TK " button to access the creative Photoshop actions menu−Includes new actions for Smart Orton and Neutralize Cast 2 for creative development, and Stack, Align, and Focus Blend for blending multiple images.
  • Integrated web-sharpening−Sharpen images for the web to any dimension, convert to sRGB, and run post-sharpening actions.
  • Expanded user actions−Ten programmable actions, accessed via the "User " button, allow users to run their own actions directly from the panel.

  • Multi-image sharpening−Resize and sharpen entire folders of images for the web with one button click.

All Modules

  • Active selection indicator−Shows when there is an active selection even if there are no marching ants visible.
  • Rollover help−Rolling the mouse over any button displays a help message in the window at the bottom of the module.
