  1. Crimson Gorge Print, Rogue River, Oregon
It pays to be out early on a fall morning when you can catch a sunrise like this. The intense light burns bright colors in the clouds, rocks and foliage as the Rogue River cascades into the Rogue River Gorge on its way to the Rogue Valley in southern Oregon.

  3. Early Light On Cho Oyu And The Third Gokyo Lake II Print, Dudh Pokhari, Nepal
The tip of Cho Oyu in the Mt. Everest region of Nepal glows pink with alpenglow as the first light of day reaches its 27,000 foot high Himalayan summit. Dudh Pokhari, the third of several moraine lakes along the Ngozumpa Glacier, reflects Cho Oyu bathed in predawn light. Dudh Pokhari is also the site of Gokyo, an unlikely selection of lodges situated on the shore at nearly 16,000 feet. The lodges, almost invisible in this icy scene, provide room and board for trekkers in an extreme but magnificent terrain. Learn More
  4. Darkness Bleeds Daylight Print, Monument Valley, Arizona
In Monument Valley, on the Navajo Reservation in northern Arizona, red sand and sparse desert plant life are illuminated as the morning sun breaks through the cloud-filled sky. For a moment the sun backlights the rock tower formations called the mittens and creates a flash in the still dawn. Learn More
  5. Crater Lake Lookout At Dusk Print, Crater Lake, Oregon
A glowing window in the viewing station on the rim of Crater Lake looks out over the lake and Wizard Island as the last light of day falls over a cold winter scene. Crater Lake National Park is located in the Cascade Mountain Range of southern Oregon. The lake is in a volcanic crater or caldera created by the eruption of Mt. Mazama. It is the deepest lake in the United States at 1,949 feet. Solely fed by snow and rain, it boasts the clearest water of any lake in the world.

  16. Twilight Falls Print, Palouse River Canyon, Eastern Washington
Palouse Falls drops over 150 feet into the deep and winding Palouse River Canyon in eastern Washington. Taking this photo required positioning my tripod legs right on the edge of the 370 foot high canyon rim and fighting back sensations of vertigo. I arrived at the falls about 30 minutes after sunset and caught the final glow on the horizon before the scene went totally dark. The orange post sunset glow in the sky reflected nicely off the cliff walls.

A walk along the jetty of the Coquille River in Bandon, Oregon at sunrise rewarded me with a grand display of fiery color. The Coquille River Lighthouse with its simple architectural lines stands watch in the morning glow. The tracks in the sandy path through the sea grass are evidence of the many visitors to the lighthouse.

  20. Greensprings Sunset Print, Ashland, Oregon
This was one of the most tranquil and radiant evenings I have spent photographing in the hills along the Greensprings Highway near my home in southern Oregon. It was difficult to capture, but the low angle backlighting gives this image a wonderful glow.

  22. Bonsai Sunset Print, Lake Tahoe, Nevada
It required the blending of four exposures to balance the high dynamic range of light in this scene on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. I worked hard to find a spot where all the rocks and reflections would fit into an orderly composition. I feel the sliver of moon adds a great final touch. Learn More

  24. Nightfall, Samuel H Boardman Coast, Oregon
This was another one of those gray days which showed a moment of brilliance right at sunset. A small opening in the clouds let some red sunlight pierce the gathering darkness. It wasn't enough to light up the underside of the clouds so most of the scene retained it's overall dark and moody character. Secrect Beach, oregon, coast, beach, sunset Learn More
