SUMMARY:Sean presents to the Sedona Camera Club
DESCRIPTION:Sean will present to the Sedona Camera Club starting at 6 p.m. Mountain Time on Monday\, January 25th. Due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns\, his two-part online presentation will be via a Sedona Camera Club webinar. \nAdventures in Light: light is perhaps the most important element in photography. In outdoor photography\, we are at the whim of the available natural light. Being a student of light\, intimately knowing the different kinds of lighting situations and understanding how they impact our photographs is essential. Sean will share what he has learned about searching out and recognizing types of light in the landscape and how they can be used to elevate our images. \n  \nAn Introduction To The Power Of Luminosity Masks: the more fine control we have over image adjustments the better we are able to create high-quality results and achieve our creative vision. In Photoshop\, our skill at creating masks largely determines how much control we can have. Pixel-based masks\, such as luminosity masks\, represent the highest form of mask making. Sean will explain what luminosity masks are\, how they are made and ways they can be used to make very fine\, nuanced and natural image adjustments. \n \n  \nThe silver lining of the COVID-19 “cloud” is that the online format enables Sedona Camera Club to host high profile photographers from around the U.S. The club will have 5-7 online meetings in 2020-2021; when the COVID situation permits\, the club will return to face-to-face meetings. Upcoming speakers include Adam Schallau\, Dawn Kish and Brenda Tharp. \nPresentations\, hosted by the Sedona Camera Club\, are free to members. Guests may attend two meetings before joining. Zack and I feel that a physical print is still the ultimate way to experience an image. To get the best quality prints requires an additional base of knowledge and set of skills. In this two day class\, we will show you the techniques we use to achieve prints that look great and reliably match the master image file as closely as possible. As with all aspects of photography\, becoming a master printer could take a lifetime. We’ll be visiting some of the crown jewels of the area. The exact locations will be determined based on seasonal conditions and weather in order to best take advantage of the photographic potential. During our field sessions\, we will cover concepts like mastering the technical aspects of equipment\, how to work with available light\, building strong composition and problem-solving. This workshop is intended for students of all skill levels and experience. \nWe will also be demonstrating post-processing techniques each day in our hotel conference room. We’ll be covering beginning and advanced techniques using Lightroom\, Photoshop and the TKActions panel to craft compelling landscape images. We will also be including some time after the presentations to answer questions and offer one on one help. \nWhat to expect:\nExpect beautiful locations and long days. Late Spring is a prime time to photograph in Central Oregon. This means early mornings and late evenings chasing the light. Be ready for extreme temperatures\, especially cold. Even though it’s almost summer and daytime highs are usually in the 70s\, it can be below freezing at sunrise\, especially in the mountains. DESCRIPTION:1 spot just opened. Grab it here!\nThis unique trip will take us to a variety of magnificent alpine locations in the Dolomites of northern Italy\, complete with seven nights of accommodation with full board\, airport transfer\, and transportation between locations. Our lodging will be a mixture of hotels and beautifully situated alpine huts that put us as close as possible to the most photogenic locations for winter photography. The final full day of the trip we will hold a substantial post-processing seminar in the comfort of a hotel conference room. This will be a rare opportunity to get out of the valleys and into the mountains to photograph some of the most spectacular\, craggy\, snow-capped peaks anywhere in the world. Participants will have the benefit of a small group of only eight participants and two instructors\, allowing you to get all of the help that you need with field technique and post-processing instruction. \nRegister
