A Walk In The Clouds Stock Image, West Buttress, Mt. McKinley, Denali National Park, Alaska

In June of 2005 my climbing partner and I made our second ascent of Denali (Mt. McKinley) in Denali National Park, Alaska. One of the most spectacular sections of the West Buttress Route is the section between 16,000 and 17,000 feet, where one ascends along the narrow spine of the buttress. On this climb we ascended out of the clouds into bright sunlight. I carefully balanced on the ridge while stopping to take this photo looking back at the sea of clouds below us.
