This high contrast black and white image, was taken along the John Dellenback Trail, Oregon Dunes. The blowing sand dunes overtake living trees, causing them to die and later be uncovered as tree skeletons. This route is the most adventurous and challenging of all the marked trails in Oregon Dunes leading to the beach. It begins on a reasonable enough interpretive loop trail, with a spur to campsites at Eel Creek Campground. Then the trail ends and the real adventure begins: crossing the widest swath of open dunes on the Oregon coast.
