Climbing teams appear as small pebbles on Kahiltna Glacier in Denali National Park, Alaska. The grand Mt. Hunter, looming overhead, sits about 20 miles south of Denali and is the third highest peak in the Alaska Range. Although it’s peak looks long and broad, Mt. Hunter is the steepest and most spectacular mountain in North America. Because of its difficult terrain and extreme weather, fewer than 10 climbers per year reach the summit.
