A winter visitor to Crater Lake snowshoes up to Crater Lake Lodge. The lodge in Crater Lake National Park, Oregon, was originally constructed in 1915. It prospered for many years as a destination for travelers to the majestic lake. Due to lack of funds to maintain the structure it deteriorated to an unsafe condition and was closed in 1989. It was scheduled for demolition but was saved by public demand and completely renovated using as much original material as possible. Reopened in 1994, it is now a premier attraction in Oregon. The pristine water of the lake can been seen reflecting the snowy rim and crystal blue sky.
