Nightfall On The Cape Stock Image, Oregon

Nightfall On The Cape Stock Image, Oregon

Cape Arago; Oregon; Shore Acres; State Park; cliff; coast; rocks; shore; waves; workshop

Shore Acres and Cape Arago form a unique portion of the Oregon Coast. A marine terrace borders the Coos County shore for much of the distance between the entrance to Coos Bay and the Curry County line. Rocks on which the terrace was formed differ along the shore, and erosion along this terrace has produced a shore with varied and magnificent scenery that is distinctly different from that of any other part of the Oregon coast. The predominant rock unit, the Coaledo Formation, contains an abundance of marine fossils. The terrace is a breeding ground for many species of sea birds and sea lions and is a good place to watch for migrating whales. I took this long exposure and utilized the high ISO capability of my camera to pull as much remaining light from the evening twilight long after the sun had set.
