The Understand Photography Show is an interview-style podcast about travel, nature, and fine art photography. I had a great conversation with host, Peggy Farren about knowing and using light in your landscape photography. This is a behind-the-scenes look at the podcast interview with video.

Peggy Farren interviews famous photographers, beginner photographers, specialty photographers, travel gurus, and more on this weekly show. It airs on Fridays on the Understand Photography Facebook page, Youtube, and iTunes. The motto at Understand Photography is “We Simplify the Technical”. If you like things explained to you in a simple, step-by-step manner, you’ll love The Understand Photography Show.

Correct Wide-Angle Perspective Distortion Using Photoshop

June 18, 2020 by Sean Bagshaw Leave a Comment

In this video tutorial on my YouTube channel, I show how to correct the wide-angle distortion that happens when we tilt the camera down to emphasize the foreground and move the horizon toward the top third of the frame. I also wrote an article on it on the Photo Cascadia blog that includes before/after image examples if you want to check that out.

I'll also mention that this technique is included in my latest Photoshop course which is called Photoshop Essentials For Outdoor Photographers. There is an introductory price on the course through June 2020 using the code PSessentials25.

In this tutorial, Rafael, the Bard of PhotoPills, gives me an extensive lesson on how to use the PhotoPills app to plan for the best sunset, full moon, Milky Way and star trails at the fallen arch at Cape Kiwanda on the Oregon coast. March 11, 2020 by Sean Bagshaw Leave a Comment

Ever have a problem with light edge halos cropping up in your images as you develop them? You often don't see them in screen size images, but they can ruin a nice print. In my latest video tutorial I show an easy and fairly quick way to make them disappear called Darker Color Cloning. I use it all the time and I think many photographers will find it useful. Check it out and leave a comment if you have any questions.

How To Plan Ahead For The Sun, Moon and Milky Way For Landscape Photography Using PhotoPills

January 9, 2020 by Sean Bagshaw Leave a Comment

Knowing when and where the sun, moon and milky way will be in the sky ahead of time is valuable information for landscape photographers. The PhotoPills app is the tool I use to plan landscape photography shoots. It is a powerful app and takes some learning, so in this video, I give some tips for basic planning ahead using the PhotoPills app including three main planning scenarios: 1 - Quickly seeing sun/moon rise and set times for any location. 2 - Knowing what the sun, moon and milky way will be doing at a specific location on a specific day. 3 - Determining when the best sun, moon or milky way alignment will happen at a location.
